About this beach
Sorobon lies on the south side of Lac Bay, a large lagoon on Bonaire’s southeast coast, about a 15 to 20 minute drive from Kralendijk. A coral reef at the mouth of the bay blocks most waves. Close to shore the water is at most about a metre deep, with a sandy bottom and seagrass: calm, clear and warm.
Lac Bay is the only place in Bonaire National Marine Park where windsurfing is allowed. The trade wind is usually 15 to 25 knots. Windsurf schools rent gear and give lessons on the beach. Kitesurfing is prohibited in Lac Bay; inside the marine park it is only allowed at Atlantis.
The beach bars rent out loungers and umbrellas, and there are restrooms and outdoor showers. Parking is free and dogs are not allowed. According to bonaire.com, the north side of the lagoon holds the largest mangrove forest in the Dutch Caribbean; you visit the mangroves with a guide.

Perfect Afternoon at Hang Out
“Had a lovely afternoon at Hang Out Beach Bar on Sorobon. Sunbeds on the sand, clear turquoise water and a constant view of the windsurfers. Cold Amstel with lemon and you don't want to go anywhere else. Water is shallow and calm, ideal for cooling down. Busy in the afternoon, but the atmosphere is relaxed. Definitely recommended if you visit Sorobon.”

Kinderen veilig in ondiep water
