About this beach
Te Amo Beach is on EEG Boulevard, directly across from Flamingo Airport and about a 10 minute drive from the centre of Kralendijk. It is a narrow strip of white sand with a sandy entry to the water, while most other west-coast beaches are coral rock and pebbles. That also makes it easy for children.
The water is calm and the reef starts close to shore, so beginner snorkellers do not have to swim far. Do not snorkel at the far end behind the breakwater: that is the entrance to a small boat harbour.
There is little shade: a few trees, otherwise full sun, so bring an umbrella. Two food trucks stand in the free gravel car park. The beach is accessible 24 hours a day. Turtles sometimes nest here; nests are usually marked and should not be walked over. Weekday mornings are quietest; weekends and public holidays are busier, especially around lunchtime.

Handig bij aankomst + foodtrucks
“Direct na de landing hierheen gereden. Wit zand, goed snorkelen vlakbij de pier. Foodtrucks in de buurt. Vliegtuigen over je heen is een feature, geen bug – kids vonden het geweldig.”

“Mooi genoeg voor een middag, maar verwacht geen verlaten paradijs. Parkeren en drukte rond de foodtrucks. Water is helder, snorkel was oké.”

Perfecte first-day beach
“Na de long-haul vlucht precies wat je nodig hebt: strand, hapje, zwemmen. Combineer met vliegtuigspotten. Nature Fee niet vergeten als je later gaat snorkelen/duiken elders.”
